Arbitrage Funds do not offer any long term wealth creation. Their returns are like a debt fund but the classification for Income Tax purposes is like an Equity Fund. which is a slight advantage. I believe one should identify the Goal of the Investment and then choose the right investment to achieve it. Arbitrage funds in my opinion does not serve any specific purposes and should be avoided.
